IoT Backbone
Data and Smart-Building Integration

IoT Backbone

Lighting data layer; connected lighting backbone

A lighting-based IoT backbone is a network of sensor-equipped, always-powered luminaires that doubles as a building-wide data fabric. Because fixtures are powered everywhere people are, the lighting system can carry occupancy, environmental, and energy telemetry for other building applications across the floorplate.

What it is

Luminaires are the natural sensor carrier — powered everywhere people are. The credibility line: pair every data-value claim with the mitigation checklist (OT/IT segmentation per CISA, DLC NLC5.x cybersecurity criteria); that separation is what distinguishes infrastructure content from vendor hype.
